Maintaining your motorcycle's final drive is crucial to keep it running smoothly and efficiently.

The final drive includes the chain, sprockets, and other components that transfer power from the engine to the rear wheel. In this article, we'll focus on how to lubricate the drive chain properly.

The first step is to clean the chain thoroughly using kerosene or diesel. Avoid using gasoline or trichloroethylene, as they can cause the O-ring to deteriorate and swell. Once the chain is clean, use compressed air to blow it dry immediately. This prevents any water or moisture from sitting on the chain, which can cause rust and corrosion.

Next, it's time to apply the lubricant. We recommend using SAE 90 oil, as it is heavier and provides better lubrication. Apply the oil to the entire chain using a cloth or a similar method. Be sure to cover the chain evenly, including the inside of the links.

After applying the oil, let the chain sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to penetrate. Then, spin the rear wheel freely for a few minutes to help the excess oil drip off. This ensures that the chain is properly lubricated without excess oil flinging off while riding.

By following these simple steps, you can keep your drive chain in good condition and ensure that your motorcycle runs smoothly. Remember to perform this maintenance periodically, as a well-maintained chain can last for thousands of kilometers.
