Suspension

The suspension system provides a smooth ride by absorbing shocks from the road, maintaining tire contact with the surface, and ensuring stability and handling.

The suspension should be inspected every 12,000 km (7,500 miles) or annually, whichever comes first, to ensure it is functioning correctly and there are no leaks or damage.

Signs of suspension problems include excessive bouncing, uneven tire wear, oil leaks from the forks or shocks, and a rough ride.

To check the front fork oil level, remove the fork caps, compress the forks fully, and use a dipstick or oil level gauge to measure the oil height from the top of the fork tube.

The fork oil should be replaced every 24,000 km (15,000 miles) or every 2 years, whichever comes first, to ensure proper damping and performance.

To adjust the rear shock preload, use the preload adjuster on the shock absorber. Turn the adjuster to increase or decrease the spring tension according to the load and riding conditions.

Inspect the suspension linkage for wear by checking for play, worn bushings, or damaged seals. Lubricate the linkage pivot points regularly and replace any worn components.

To replace the front fork seals, remove the forks from the motorcycle, disassemble the fork tubes, remove the old seals, install the new seals, and reassemble the forks. Refill with the recommended fork oil and reinstall the forks on the motorcycle.

Check the rear shock absorber for proper damping by compressing and releasing the shock. It should compress smoothly and return to its original position without bouncing excessively.

Maintaining the correct suspension settings is important for optimal handling, stability, and comfort. Incorrect settings can lead to poor ride quality, reduced traction, and increased wear on suspension components.
